This is 2nd station to be built being located on Bridgend-side of A48 road bridge.
As a GWR main line station it boasted 4 platforms (with a waiting room on each), 2 footbridges, a booking office, together with a goods
yard & extensive sidings. Pyle station was an important junction for excursions to Porthcawl & was one of the best kept with lawns,
shrubbery, flower beds & even a goldfish pond complete with fountain.

Pyle station was built in 1850 when the South Wales Railway opened. The former Crown Inn (in background) was once the station-master's office/ticket office.
